Tips to Live Organically

Listen to this blog post:

Living a greener, simpler life by choosing organic foods and products takes dedication. While many more people every day are moving in that direction, getting tips from individuals who’ve been doing for years, can help us on that journey. So, this month, we’ve reviewed a number of blogs nationwide and chosen some that cover a range of green living topics, as a resource for you.

  1. Super Natural Mom

Our very own Marin County resident, Beth Greer, aka Super Natural Mom®, is a Certified Toxin-Free Living Professional, an award-winning journalist, green holistic health educator, speaker and healthy home coach. She is a trusted consumer advocate, leading a movement of awareness and responsibility about healthy home, school and work environments. Beth shared her insights on the topic of exploring mystery illnesses. She’s worked with individuals and families who have done what they think is right to remove all toxins from their home, and still, symptoms of illness continue.

  1. The Healthy Home Economist

Sarah Pope has a passion for providing you with delicious whole food recipes, well researched information about natural remedies, fitness ideas and workout suggestions, green living tips and other ideas to make staying healthy easy, safe, and budget friendly!

The mission of her Healthy Home Economist site is devoted to teaching families about the effective, practical application of traditional, ancestrally inspired diets and research-based wellness within the setting of the modern household. In 2010, she was awarded Activist of the Year at the international Wise Traditions Conference.

  1. Eartheasy

Greg Seaman, founded Eartheasy, with a mission of helping people improve their quality of life by offering information and products for sustainable living. Eartheasy promotes a higher quality of life that means more time with family and friends, a lower cost of living, a toxin-free home and yard, access to wholesome food and safe drinking water, and more time spent in nature.

Sustainable living respects the limits of the earth’s capacity to provide. They explore solutions that lead to a simpler, more self-sufficient way of living. At Eartheasy, they believe we can enrich our lives and ensure a healthy future while also reducing our impact on the environment.

  1. Green Global Travel

Green Global Travel is an ecotourism, nature/wildlife conservation & cultural preservation website focused on inspiring people to travel more adventurously, consciously and sustainably.

Co-founded by veteran journalist Bret Love and photographer/videographer Mary Gabbett, the site has been named Best Specialist Travel Blog and has been highlighted among the best travel writing on the web numerous times by National Geographic. We’ve also been featured by BBC News, the Chicago TribuneForbesFrommer’sThe GuardianHuffington PostLonely Planet, NPR, Travel Channel, and The Washington Post.

Bret Love and Mary Gabbett, managing partners, have built Green Global Travel into one of the top travel blogs in the world. They believe that running a travel blog with a purpose is striking a delicate balance between raising awareness and maintaining reader interest. Green Global Travel strives for that balance with its practical and informative blog that aims to ‘spread the sustainable philosophies of ecotourism and conservation’ through sustainable travel.

  1. Green Talk

Started in 2007 by Anna Hackman, Green Talk is about the conversation on how to live a greener lifestyle. What started as a green building blog evolved into a green living and green business guide. She’s created over 1,000 posts, podcasts and videos.

Anna explains that the site is ever changing and growing. But the aim still remains the same.  Helping those who are taking baby steps to encouraging participation from those who already have made large leaps. We all help each other.

  1. Eco Childs Play

Jennifer Lance-founder and editor of Eco Child’s Play devotes her blog to informing and discussing “Green Parenting for Non-toxic, Healthy Homes”. ECP began in 2006 as a site devoted to natural toys, but they quickly realized the need to expand their mission to include broader issues related to green family life.

Lance who, herself, has been living off the grid for over 20 years, initially devoted Eco Child’s Play pages to discussions on natural toys before becoming a go-to resource for the latest news and information on green parenting for healthy and non-toxic homes.

  1. The Eco Friendly Family

Approaching green living from a modern and practical perspective is something Amanda Hearn likes to do. She discusses that along with other topics that are important to her such as composting, using safe products, and cloth diapers on her blog, The Eco-Friendly Family.

Part of changing your lifestyle is about trying new things that will replace old habits. That may mean making your own cleaners or detergents or choosing to use reusable products to replace disposables. Hearn finds that many people think of living ‘green’ as something that requires sacrifice but it’s quite the opposite! Choosing a lifestyle change requires a little bit of re-learning but choosing products and foods that help you live a healthier life is rewarding physically, mentally, financially and globally, since your choices can have a huge impact.
